Structural, civil and environmental engineering

Our approach

We apply our specialist experience, knowledge and fresh thinking to create buildable solutions that delight our clients. The policies highlighted below are the cornerstone of our approach to every project.

Quality

Our customers are passionate about quality. And so are we.

That’s why we have invested considerable time and effort in developing a robust quality management system (QMS) that enables us to plan, operate and monitor all parts of our business efficiently and effectively. Our QMS also drives our efforts to keep improving what we do and how we do it.

We are accredited to BS EN ISO 9001: 2015 and to BS EN ISO 14001: 2015.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR)

Long-term business success does not depend on meeting client deliverables alone. We recognise that in today’s world we must also demonstrate our continued commitment to fulfilling our wider responsibilities.

As a responsible business, we:

  • Uphold high ethical standards in everything that we do
  • Treat our employees fairly and respectfully
  • Provide a great place to work that is free from discrimination of any kind
  • Support our employees in their performance and professional development
  • Welcome diversity and promote inclusion
  • Support local communities – for example by sponsoring local school awards and engaging students in work placements
  • Have a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption
  • Remain vigilant regarding forced labour and modern slavery in the construction industry.

Equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce, and to eliminating unlawful discrimination.

The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.

In providing our services, we are also committed against unlawful discrimination of customers or the public.

Health, safety and wellbeing

A core value within our business, we recognise the critical importance of health, safety and wellbeing, not just to our own team but also to our clients, contractors and members of the public who may be affected by our operations and activities.

Our continuous improvement culture supports our drive to prevent safety incidents, injury and ill health in the workplace. This is reflected in our Health and Safety Policy, which we update in response to regulatory changes and our evolving business needs.

We are passionate about identifying and assessing risks associated with our work activities – as well as eliminating, reducing or controlling them. We expect all our contractors to adopt a similar mindset. We want everyone to return home safe and well at the end of the working day.

Environment

We actively identify and manage our impact on the environment, including by:

  • Reducing our carbon footprint – including through designs that incorporate sustainable construction materials and energy-efficient solutions
  • Preventing pollution
  • Sourcing our materials from responsible suppliers
  • Driving down waste in our workplace and designing it out on client projects, wherever feasible
  • Protecting natural resources and habitats
  • Promoting environmental good practice to our workforce, clients and suppliers.
